New merchants, what each sells, and making money
| Merchant | Sells or offers |
|---|---|
| Briston (most compounds) | Perk books, DNA boosts, genetic blueprint trades, and ammo conversion — which starts at a 50% rate and improves with bartering. He also has in-game reference info, including the hotkeys |
| Class Trainers (every compound) | Class missions, blueprint quests for crafting stations, and (through the shared trainer stock) molten steel, the Crucible schematic, chef knives, and the Rage Panther cube. See the trainer list below |
| Raël, mercenaries | Mercenary contracts — see below. He also wanders into the world as a temporary visitor |
| Billy Bob, farmer (Rekt's) | Dogs in several breeds, and seeds |
| Gretta, handywoman (Bob's) | Electrical items, vehicle parts, propane tanks, a 4x4, a motorcycle, and a helicopter (the game data lists the helicopter at full stock probability; a gyrocopter is a 5% chance) |
| Lorenzo, Black Shield (Hugh's) | Elemental immunity armor mods (traded for immune-zombie remains and cash; see Gear & Armor for prices and level gates), plus body bags, a junk drone, grenade and rocket launchers, pipe bombs and grenades, scrap brass, and bone powder. Some wiki pages spell his name Lorenza; the game uses Lorenzo |
| Medical Android | Medicine of all kinds |
| Poppy (Moonlock Protocol only) | Hive-locating missions, repairs, and weapon imbuing. See Zombies & Scenarios |
Darryl is the NPC you meet at the very start of a game. Guards protect the compounds. Traders are open at all hours except on Blood Moon nights, restock daily, and the "speciality" traders only open once you have proven yourself. The familiar Joel, Jen, Bob, Hugh, and Rekt still sell their own ammo, tools, and kit schematics (Joel, for example, stocks 200-stacks of every ammo type).
| Trainer | Class |
|---|---|
| Olivia | Hunter |
| Isaac | Thug |
| Hank | Butcher |
| Elias | Soldier |
| Liam | Madman |
| Helen | Sous-Chef |
| Scarlett | Technogeek |
| Vince | Builder |
| Jeram | Witch Doctor |
| Brutus | Berserker |
All ten share one stock, so any of them sells molten steel.
Don't skip the vending machines behind Briston. They stock repair kits (repair, armor, electrical, resource, and bike kits, plus gun kits outside the Hive scenario), potassium bicarbonate, and a 30% chance of a hotwire kit for vehicle repairs. The game files list no fire extinguishers or distilled water there.
| Compound | Biome | Additional merchants |
|---|---|---|
| Rekt | Forest | Billy Bob (farmer), Briston, Elias (Class Trainer) |
| Bob | Desert | Gretta (handywoman), Liam (Class Trainer) |
| Hugh | Snow | Lorenzo (Black Shield), Briston, Helen (Class Trainer), Raël |
| Joel | Wasteland | Briston, Isaac (Class Trainer), Raël |
| Jen | Burnt Forest | Briston, Scarlett (Class Trainer), Raël |
This table comes from the wiki and player reports. The game files confirm that Raël's spawn marker exists only at Hugh, Jen, and Joel, but they do not record which trainer stands at which compound, or which biome each compound sits in.
Each trader also sells different Integration Workbench kit schematics — see Gear & Armor.
Missions pay noticeably less cash than in vanilla, so they're more about progression and loot than income.
