How armor works in Rebirth.
- Armor comes in tiers tied to biomes. Every piece in a tier has the same armor numbers, so sets differ only by their set bonus. The bonus needs all four pieces, and its strength follows your lowest-quality piece.
- You learn armor by scrapping it at the Stitch and Salvage Bench. Each piece has its own mastery (1–5): scrapping a piece you found sets it to that piece's quality the first time, then raises it by 1 per scrap, or straight to the scrapped quality if that's higher. Pieces you crafted yourself don't count. You can craft a piece at any quality up to your mastery of it, so crafted armor tops out at quality 5; quality 6 only comes from loot. Crafting also needs the Armor Codex in the bench.
- Scrapping also pays out: a 50% chance of Armor Parts, and if the piece had bonuses, 1–2 Integration kit parts (better parts from pieces with more bonuses). See the Bonus roller tab for the kits.
- Every piece has 4 to 10 mod slots, depending on quality, and can roll random bonuses that you change at the Integration Workbench. See the Gear & Armor chapter.
- Cold and heat protection is rolled per item, somewhere in the range shown. Armor rating and fire/shock resistance also get a tiny random ±0.2.

Sets
Every armor mod in Rebirth: what it does, which slot it goes in, and how to get it. Most of these are Rebirth's own.
- Tiered mods (1–5) are mostly found as loot. Combine two of one tier at the Forge to make the next tier; the Recycling Station breaks a tier back down.
- One of each per piece. Mods that share a type can't sit on the same armor piece together, including two tiers of the same mod. The "Can't share a piece with" line lists the other mods each one clashes with.
- A few mods only fit certain armor tiers. Mods marked Any slot go in any armor piece.

Mods
Roll armor bonuses exactly the way Rebirth does. This runs a copy of the mod's own enchanting code, with the full list of … possible bonuses pulled from the mod itself. Pick an armor slot and quality, then either apply kits one at a time like at the Integration Workbench, or roll a piece as if you'd found it in a biome.
- How a bonus is picked: first a bonus family at random (all equally likely), then its rarity using the kit's odds, then one bonus of that rarity. Higher item quality shifts the odds toward uncommon, rare and legendary.
- No two bonuses on an item come from the same family. Bonuses alternate between the prefix and suffix side.
- Loot stage doesn't affect bonuses. In the game's code, only the biome where the armor drops and the item's quality matter. (Loot stage only changes what quality the armor drops at.)

Kits follow the game's rules: Survivor's Upgrade and Comprehensive need a bare item, Adjustment needs exactly one bonus, Retuning one or two, Elite Reinforcement exactly two.

Each family is equally likely to be picked. The percentage under each rarity is the chance of that rarity once the family is picked, at the quality above. Value ranges cover every variant of that rarity.
Put together a full set of armor and see what it adds up to. Pick a piece and quality for each slot, fill its mod slots and add bonuses (pick them here or roll them in the Bonus roller and send them over). The builder follows the game's rules: mod slots by quality, which mods fit where, one mod of each type per piece, and up to four bonuses per piece (two prefixes, two suffixes, never two from the same family). A set bonus counts only when all four pieces are from one set, at the lowest quality among them.

Source: the installed Rebirth mod files (Core build 2026.03.30, Utils build 2026.07.02) with every mod in the Rebirth 2.6 pack applied to the 2.6 config, including its bundled LittleRedSonja/Mumpfy armor packs: items, buffs (set bonuses), recipes, loot and trader stock. Armor mods come from item_modifiers.xml, recipes, loot, trader stock and Rebirth's Recycling Station table; conflicts follow the game's install rule (one mod per shared type per piece). The loadout builder adds up plain stat effects and lists scripted mod effects as text. The bonus roller is a port of Rebirth's own enchanting code (Scripts/Bonuses), and its bonus list was produced by running the mod's own registration code. Cosmetic skins are vanilla's DLC and event outfits; they're never dropped or crafted as armor. Set-bonus text is the game's own, with its numbers filled in at the quality you pick.
